Iowa Draft Horses and Mules
"I would first like to thank Lynn and Janine MacVey for inviting us to their farm near Algona. It was a beautiful day and a beautiful view of their farm from their front yard. We had three teams and a single participate in the mornings driving event. We drove through Lynn's gently rolling pastures and waded through the creek (belly high to a tall horse!). Several brave souls rode with us on the wagons and the ones that were not so brave ( or maybe just smarter) could watch the whole course from the yard. It was nice to see horses being used at an IDHMBA event and I hope it is something we will continue to do. Our potluck as usual had plenty of good food. Our business meeting was fairly short with no important decisions made except to elect Lynn to be our NW director for another term. We had about 30 people attending counting kids.
We discussed our usual subjects:
Hall of Fame-- Denny Meggers knows and works with the person that is now in charge of the horse buildings at the fair. He is going to see what we can do to be able to fix up the hall of fame room in the horse barn.
We didn't have any additions to our nomination list for the hall of fame. If you would like to nominate someone, we now have a form to fill out, detailing the nominees credentials so our Board of Directors will have a easier time deciding who to put into the hall of fame. Dick and Joy Sparrow will be inducted at this years fair."
